Fern is the princess of Hikari no Oukoku(The First
Kingdom,The Kingdom of Light). It's her 100th year of life, and the
tradition for members of the royal family is to take a trip to the
surface. This year, Fern gets to go to the human world. But there is
also another reason for her departure to the surface. The Third
Kingdom (The Kingdom of Darkness) knows Fern's secret. She is half
human. They seek to reveal this fact, and to turn her people against
her. But this is only the back up plan.
Fern goes to the suface in the company of four royal Knights of Light: Cypress, Conifer,
Mahogany, and Cedar. She enrolls as a student at a local University.
This was one of the requirements her mother put on her. Learning is
held in very high regard to the Core Elves, but science is one area
they cannot understand, for science is the enemy of magic. Fern, being half human, has the ability to understand the sciences and using that
knowledge can apply her magic more effectively. She needs these skills to defend herself in the future.
