New Info
Ba and Ka
The Ba and Ka were like twin spirits that were born into the body. The Ba was the soul which was free to roam the world until nigth fell, and the Ka was the spirit that remained in the tomb of the deceased, living in the mummy or a funerary statue. Food offerings or pictoral food was painted on the wall to sustain the Ka. When the Ba and Ka joined they formed the Akh, which was the complete spirit that went to live with the gods.
Anubis
"The Royal Child"
Anubis showed up in the first story, but I forgot to put his info up here.
Anubis is the Jackal-headed god of death and embalming. He invented the art of preserving the body for life after death. He made Osiris the first mummy after Isis pieced him back together. Anubis also weighs your heart against a feather when you descend to the underworld. If if is as light as the feather, you go on. If it is heavier, his dog-like crocodile creature eats your heart, and you can never live forever in the afterlife.
Thoth
"Leader"
The ibis-headed god of wison, intelligence, scribes, magic, and related to anything knowledge related. He recorded the judgment of each person's soul in the underworld.
Horus
"High, above"
Horus is the son of Isis and Osiris. He is usually depicted with the head of a falcon. Seth injured his eye once, but Thoth healed it. Hence the repeated image of the eye of Horus and it's mystical value. He is usually seen with the double crown of Egypt, Upper and Lower.
Seth
"To Dazzle"
Seth is Osiris's brother. Seth is considered a very powerful god, and one that is connected to vehement storms, the desert, and choas. He killed his brother Osiris and chopped his body up into 14 pieces, which Isis later reassembled and reanimated to conceive her son Horus. Horus was destined to defeat Seth and take revenge for his father.
Osiris
"He Sees the Throne"
Generally regarded and for story purposes as the god of the underworld. He is usually depicted especially in his role as underworld ruler with a green face, the crook and flail(symbols of the pharaoh), the false beard, and the crown of Egypt. He was one of the first pharoahs of Egypt. Isis is in actuality his sister, born from Geb and Nut, the earth and sky. His body was cut up into 14 pieces by his brother Set/Seth and scattered around Egypt. Isis found them and reassembled them, reanimating his corpse long enough to conceive a child.
Isis
"The Throne"
Goddess and great sorceress. She and Osiris bear a child named Horus after Osiris' descent to the underworld to rule. She once saved the pharaoh Ra from the venom of cobras by learning his secret name. Seen as the patron of women and motherhood.
Ra
"Sun"
Generally one of the more major gods. Depending on what period of history one is referring to, he was generally seen as the head of the heavens. He gave man knowledge, civilization, and learning and became the first pharaoh. After his human death he returned to the heavens.
Sehkmet
"Powerful Female"
Generally taking the form of a lioness-headed goddess, she devoured humans under Ra's command when they took no heed of his power in the beginning of their creation. So, he sent Sehkmet to wipe them out.
Hathor
"House of Horus"
Hathor can been seen as the flip side to Sehkmet. I've read in several places that Ra actually transformed Sehkmet into Hathor, and that's what I'm using for this story. She is usually seen with cows horns I think, and is the patron of women, the home, and music.
Neith
"One Who Is"
Neith is mentioned once near the end of the story, and is generally seen as a goddess of war and weaving.
